Raj Bhatia, WG’11, Marketing Co-Chair

Principal

Raj Bhatia, WG’11, has served as the Vice President of the Penn & Wharton Club of Singapore since 2017 and is currently a Principal at Asia Growth Capital Advisors (AGCA), a Singapore based private equity firm. At AGCA, Raj focuses on originating and managing private equity investments in India and South East Asia across a range of sectors including Travel, Enterprise Software, Healthcare, Insurance, Education and Consumer Goods. Prior to joining AGCA in 2013, Raj worked with CVC International (CVCI) in Hong Kong and Standard Chartered Private Equity in Mumbai on executing private equity deals and portfolio management across Asia and India. Prior to that, Raj was an investment professional in the Venture and Growth Equity team at Ritchie Capital Management (RCM), a $3.0 bn alternative investment manager in New York where he focused on investments in Technology and Digital media.

Raj began his career as an equity analyst covering high growth technology companies at Compound Capital, a long/short equity hedge fund in Boston. At Compound, Raj was responsible for sourcing and generating investment ideas across a range of technology subsectors including semiconductors, semicap equipment, enterprise software, security software and internet. Raj was also a Leveraged Finance investment banker with Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York where he closed approximately $4.0 billion of high yield financings for financial sponsor and corporate clients in various sectors.

Raj has a BA in Economics and Psychology from Williams College where he was a ‘Class of 1960’ Scholar and an MBA in Finance and Management from the Wharton School.  Raj was awarded the Williams-Oxford fellowship to study Economics and Politics at Exeter College, Oxford University. Raj has lived and worked in India, Japan, HK, the UK and the US.
